Some Other Mother is the latest play from AJ Taudevin (Chalk Farm, Demons and co-director of CATS award winning play BEATS) who is “fast emerging as one of the most exciting forces in Scottish Theatre.” (Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman).

High up in a Glasgow tower block, ten-year old Star and her mother await the outcome of their claim for asylum. As Mama’s mind fragments under the pressure of their unknown future, Star constructs a poetic and fantastical world of her own.

Programmed at the heart of Refugee Week Scotland and produced in association with Stellar Quines, On at Fife and The Tron Some Other Mother is a story of loss and survival, which explores the traumatising impact of the asylum system, regardless of the outcome.

The emotional impact is shattering and beautifully conveyed.” (**** Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman, on Some Other Mother’s rehearsed reading, June 2012).

Written with wit and passion, Some Other Mother was developed with kind support from Playwrights Studio Scotland and will be directed by A Moment’s Peace Artistic Director Catrin Evans (Demons, Could you Please Look into the Camera, Chronicles of Irania).
